Software packages for PERCUTANEOUS INTERVENTIONS
Pie Medical’s advanced Caas packages are used in cathlabs worldwide, enabling, among others, precise quantitative and functional measurements. The Caas software package includes the following modules:
- „Caas QCA” for the analysis of coronary arteries, both in the field of straight and branched arteries (bifurcation),
- „Caas LVA & RCA” for left and right ventricle function analysis
- „Caas IntraVascular” for precise analysis of intravascular images obtained using IVUS, NIRS-IVUS and OCT techniques
- ”Caas Stent Enhancer” features enhanced stent visualization. The application automatically enhances the image region where the stent is deployed.
Also, the package for heart and vascular diseases includes new and innovative products such as Caas vFFR, Caas IV-LINQ, and 3mensio Vascular
- „Caas vFFR” is a novel angio-based functional lesion assessment tool: wire and adenosine free. The “Caas vFFR” allows for fast and non-invasive measurement of the fractional flow reserve (vFFR). The average analysis takes 1-2 minutes. The software is eliminating the need for expensive pressure guides and/or microcatheters and adenosine. The advantage of vFFR software is the possibility of integration with most angiographs (Philips, Siemens, GE, Canon)
- „Caas IV-LINQ” enables the coregistration of IVUS and OCT images (regardless of the device manufacturer) with angiography images. In this way, the most precise assessment of the vascular lesion is possible, along with the accurate determination of the stent implantation site.
Software packages used in CARDIAC MRI
Caas MR Solutions is a modular solution that enables easy and fast MRI analysis of the cardiovascular system.
- MR 4D flow is specifically designed to extract relevant information from 3D phase-contrast (PC) MR images, within a few clicks. Based these phase-contrast images, two pioneering 4D Flow modules are offered to perform a complete flow analysis that can aid in reading and interpreting cardiovascular MR images and assist in planning the time and type of an intervention. These two modules include a module to analyze vessels, from the aorta up to smaller vessels in for example the kidneys (Caas MR 4D Artery), and a module to analyze the heart valves in terms of regurgitation fraction (Caas MR 4D Heart)
- Caas MR Functional Analysis assists in functional analysis of the heart. The endocardial and epicardial wall of the ventricle can be automatically segmented on short axis images. Long axis images can also be used for segmentation. Ejection fraction, End Diastolic (ED), and End Systolic (ES) volumes are accurately calculated. Wall results in terms of wall motion, wall thickness, and wall thickening can also be obtained.
- Caas MR Tissue Characterization includes three workflows: Viability, First-Pass Perfusion, and Tissue Mapping. Differentiate between viable and non-viable tissue using regional infarct classification based on delayed-enhanced MR images. Assess myocardial edema based on T2-weighted images. By combining segmental infarct and edema areas, salvageable areas in the area at risk can be identified. Analyze rest and stress perfusion image sets side by side in the first-pass perfusion workflow to determine myocardial perfusion. Tissue mapping by discriminating between T1 and T2 tissue contrast is a unique strength of MRI. It allows the analysis of T1, T2, and T2* relaxation values. Relaxation values are translated into a color map for easy visualization of affected tissue. Visualization of T1 relaxation values is supported for look-locker and modified look-locker sequence
- Caas MR 2D Flow enables one-click quantification of major vessel blood flow from phase-contrast MR images. Inspection of the blood flow profile throughout the cardiac cycle of aortic and pulmonary flow could help to identify a shunt, valvular regurgitation or an aortic coarctation.
Software packages for STRUCTURAL HEART DISEASE
3mensio software packages are prevalent and widely used in cathlabs and hybrid rooms around the world. The software serves to plan safe and efficacious interventional procedures performed in structural diseases of the heart. The 3mensio package includes the following modules:
- 3mensio Aortic Valve,
- 3mensio Mitral Valve,
- 3mensio Tricuspid Valve,
- 3mensio Pulmonary Valve,
- 3mensio Left Atrial Appendage (easily pre-plan for LAA Occlusions on MSCT ).
3mensio packages allow you to perform a variety of precise measurements of valves, arteries, heart cavities, and valve ring relationships to the surrounding structures (e.g., the distance of the coronary orifice from the aortic valve). The software also allows assessment of valve calcifications and heart trabeculations, or the selection of appropriate angiographic projections for intervention. A beneficial option is the simulation of the implantation procedure using a virtual device, which significantly facilitates treatments, increasing their safety. Another important and commonly used option is the module facilitating the planning of the access route to the heart, which allows for the measurement of peripheral arteries, analysis of their tortuosity, calcification, etc. There is also an option to assess the intercostal space for transapical access and direct aortic access.
Additional packages used in the treatment of structural heart defects also include the 3mensio Coronary module and Caas A-Valve.:
- 3mensio Coronary: based on the images obtained from computed tomography, 3mensio Coronary enables the precise assessment of coronary arteries in terms of the presence of stenosis, supports the performance of precise measurements determining the degree of their narrowing, creates a simulation of the course of the arteries from the perspective of angiography, measures the volume of calcium deposits, and calculates the Agatston index.
- Caas A-Valve assists the physician in evaluating aortic regurgitation after transcatheter valve replacement. The qRA workflow (also called videodensitometry, VD-AR, LVOT-AR) enables the physician to quantify valvular and paravalvular regurgitation immediately in the cathlab directly after placing the valve.
Software packages for VASCULAR SURGERY
- „3mensio Vascular” easily determines the appropriate landing zone for treatment of abdominal aneurysms (EVAR), thoracic aneurysms (TEVAR) or placement of fenestrated stents (FEVAR). All relevant measurements (e.g. diameter, clock position, volumes and length) can be obtained via automatic detected centerline or 3D double oblique. Integrated manufacturer stent order sheets generate PDF files so specific stents can be easily ordered via e-mail.
- „Caas QVA” is an excellent tool for the analysis of peripheral arteries
Software used in RESEARCH
All Pie Medical software packages have been used for many years in preclinical and clinical research. The following research versions are available in this category:
- The “Caas QCA” and “QVA” packages enable precise measurements of coronary and peripheral arteries. Also, the Caas package includes module allowing, among other things, left and right ventricular function measurements “Caas LVA & RCA“
- „Caas IntraVascular”, allowing for precise analysis of images obtained during IVUS, IVUS-NIRS and OCT imaging,
- „Caas IV-LINQ” enables the coregistration of IVUS and OCT images (regardless of the imaging device manufacturer) with angiography images. In this way, the most precise assessment of the vascular lesion is possible, along with the exact location of the target site for stent implantation,
- „Caas MRV FARM” (Magnetic Resonance Ventricular analysis For Animal Research Measurements) this module is designed to analyze MRI images in preclinical settings. It allows, among others to assess the function, viability, and perfusion of the myocardium
„3D Print” is used to create STL file., which can be printed with technology 3D.
